Baby Orca!

This is a terrible photo, but I'm just so excited that I got to see baby J50 today! J50 is the newest baby in J pod of the endangered Southern Resident Killer Whale (SRKW) population. With this clan, made up of three pods, down to just 78 members every new baby is a reason to be excited! J50 was born in late December and first seen on December 30th with her suposed mother J16 (aka Slick). I got to see her today as she made her way north through Puget Sound along with the rest of J pod! She was very active and seems to be well, I even saw her breach! This photo was taken from shore at Marina Beach in Edmonds, WA.
